Survivor: Amazon was the twentieth season of Survivor.
The season ended when Poe won the title of Sole Survivor, beating Balto by a 4-3 jury vote at the Final Tribal Council. The season featured 18 contestants dubbed as "castaways" marooned on two separate beaches in the Amazon Rainforest. They were divided into two tribes: Chuva in brown and Arvore in blue. On Day 28, the tribes merged into the pink Bakav tribe.
The hidden immunity idol returned this season, hidden at the merge. Balto found it almost immediately after arriving at the beach. He used "terror tactics" by wearing the idol to every Tribal, discouraging votes. He finally used it at the last time he could, and prevented a tie when the two votes cast against him were negated.
The main twist this season was the elongated pre-merge. Producers tried to reboot viewership by bringing the unpredictablity to the show. They also filmed in an exotic, new location, as opposed to tropical sandy beaches of the past six seasons. This ultimately failed to raise ratings. Ratings would not rise again until Bermuda.
